UniSC sought to refresh and reimagine the décor of Café C with a vibrant look that would better reflect the energy of the dynamic campus. As part of the refurbishment, the university wanted to improve the operational efficiency of the café by refurbishing front-of-house and incorporating a variety of seating arrangements to meet customer needs.
Under a lump sum contract in a live campus environment, our experience in hospitality-specific construction provided valuable insight that helped align the project to UniSC’s vision. With collaborative problem-solving, we proposed buildability solutions that helped the project stay within budget and program expectations. Throughout the project, our team employed a long-term view, recommending strategies for future service requirements, to ensure UniSC could enjoy their space for years to come.
The transformation of Café C into the campus’s go-to coffee hub is a testament to the successful collaboration between our team and the UniSC facilities group. By addressing the brief with a focus on improving operational efficiency, we delivered a project marked by program and price certainty, ensuring a stress-free journey for all involved. The vibrant new space, with its flexible dining options, upgraded facilities, and strategically placed charging stations, has quickly become a standout destination on campus. This remarkable outcome met and exceeded expectations, marking the beginning of a prosperous business relationship.
I liked FARA’s attention to detail and ability to look ahead of the program. FARA’s communication with the university was always prompt and clear. I could see that they knew what would work and what wouldn’t.
I knew I’d made the right decision working with FARA when hospitality-specific design ideas, specialist contractors, and future servicing requirements were recommended. FARA had a long-term view of the café’s operation, and we felt we were in safe hands. I look forward to working with FARA in the future.
