The Brief
Coombabah State School aimed to enhance the flexibility of their D Block learning areas to better accommodate diverse teaching needs. The project involved a comprehensive strip-out and refurbishment of four general learning spaces, along with a teacher withdrawal room. Key upgrades included the installation of operable walls to support a range of activities within adaptable spaces.
Our contribution
Engaged by Honeywill Consulting, our team managed all phases of the refurbishment with a strong focus on safety and minimising disruption. We coordinated asbestos removal during school holidays to reduce risk. Structural steel was integrated within the existing building framework to support operable walls, improving both functionality and acoustic separation. Additional upgrades included ground drainage improvements, custom joinery for teacher spaces and a kitchenette for the withdrawal room.
The remarkable project outcome
The updated D Block now offers Coombabah State School multipurpose, adaptable learning spaces tailored to a modern educational environment. Each room features ample storage, screens, whiteboards, and bench space to support a productive classroom setting. Delivered on time and on budget, this stress-free project reflects our commitment to creating high-quality educational spaces.
