The Brief

With the rise of digital resources, the University of Queensland (UQ) saw an opportunity to repurpose the Dorothy Hill Library into a modern office space to better serve their staff. The vision was to downsize and relocate the library, transforming level four into a vibrant workspace that would support productivity and enhance daily operations. The project involved a full fitout with attention to both functional and aesthetic elements, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment.

Our contribution

As the design and construct partner, we led the downsizing and relocation of the library, freeing up level four for a comprehensive fitout aligned with UQ’s specifications. Our team installed new ceilings, created a breakout space, office cubicles, and a meeting room—all within a contemporary design that reflects UQ’s progressive vision.

The remarkable project outcome

Delivered on time, on budget, and stress-free, the transformed Dorothy Hill Library now provides UQ’s staff with a bright, neo-industrial workspace that balances form and function. Featuring desks with integrated storage and a spacious, fully-equipped breakout room, this reimagined space brings a fresh energy to daily work, supporting UQ’s mission of excellence in a modern, efficient setting.
