The University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) sought to create a dynamic Collaboration Hub on its Moreton Bay campus to serve as an incubator for innovation and a bridge connecting skilled graduates with industry professionals. The vision was for a flexible, multi-functional workspace within an underutilised space on campus, prioritising student safety while ensuring program and price certainty. UniSC’s goal was for the Hub to become a vital asset in attracting external investors, entrepreneurs, and innovators to the area, cementing the campus’s role as a regional center for innovation.
Our team was engaged to navigate the challenges of fitting out a compact and unconventional space in a live campus environment. We delivered a functional layout incorporating a meeting room, kitchenette, and workstations. Essential services, including mechanical, electrical, communications, and hydraulics, were seamlessly integrated to meet UniSC’s specific requirements for usability and flexibility. With efficient space management, we optimized every square meter to create a versatile and practical workspace that caters to both academic and industry needs.
The Moreton Bay Collaboration Hub is a testament to effective project execution in a constrained setting, resulting in a functional and inspiring collaborative environment that was delivered on time and within budget. UniSC’s Facilities team experienced a seamless journey, culminating in an outcome that exceeded expectations and strengthened the partnership. The Collaboration Hub has successfully positioned the Moreton Bay campus as an appealing destination for innovation and collaboration, with a growing appeal to external investors and innovators.
