The Brief

Retail First wanted to expand and upgrade the food court at Sunnybank Hills Shopping Centre. Their proposed plan would involve extensive demolitions of existing facilities that would make space for five new tenancies, two kiosks and a variety of decorative upgrades. By improving the aesthetic and atmospheric appeal, Retail First aimed to encourage more shoppers to dine in the food court.

Our contribution

To bring Retail First’s vision to life, we demolished a service corridor, two tenancies, an amenities block, and an external concrete wall. Despite these extensive works, our team ensured minimal disruption, keeping the shopping centre and food court operational. We added glazed wall panels with aluminium sun hoods for natural light, upgraded the handrails to meet compliance, and installed planter boxes, new furnishings, and lighting.

The remarkable project outcome

Our team successfully delivered Retail First’s brief on-time, within budget. The upgraded food court now offers a welcoming atmosphere, featuring timber joinery and warm lighting that invites shoppers to relax and dine. With updated kiosks and decorative elements, the space has become a modern, attractive destination for visitors throughout the centre.
