With their original kitchen operating at full tilt, The Standard Market Company (TSMC) needed to scale up to keep pace with demand across their expanding network of stores. Their solution: a purpose-built, standalone commercial kitchen designed to centralise production and streamline delivery to multiple retail locations. The program was tight, and the operational need was immediate – every design and construction decision had to support a fast, compliant handover.
We were engaged under a Design and Construct (D&C) contract to deliver the complete fitout of the new production kitchen. Early in the design phase, the plan included a rooftop plant deck. However, this proved time-prohibitive and risked pushing out the program. To avoid delays, we engineered an internal solution – reinforcing the structure of the roof from within to support the mechanical plant. This approach preserved both program and functionality.
Throughout the project, we worked closely with consultants and certifiers to ensure full compliance with food-grade standards. Our collaborative approach allowed us to navigate certification requirements, respond to evolving design needs, and maintain momentum without compromising quality.
We delivered a high-performance commercial kitchen, fully certified and operational on time. By thinking practically and acting decisively, we avoided program delays and created a space that can scale with TSMC’s continued growth. The new facility has become the backbone of their production operations – and a great example of what’s possible when flexibility, expertise, and smart decision-making come together.
