Brookfield State School aimed to modernise their aging D Block facilities, creating an engaging learning environment for students. The project included the refurbishment of four classrooms, an updated computer lab and a versatile verandah that could accommodate outdoor teaching while remaining weatherproof. Safety was a key priority, particularly with the need for asbestos removal in a live school environment. Brookfield State School required a partner who could deliver these upgrades while minimising disruption to daily school operations.
Partnering with Capworks Management, we were engaged under a Design and Construct (D&C) contract to bring Brookfield’s vision to life. Our team carefully planned and executed asbestos removal during school holidays and weekends to ensure a safe and uninterrupted environment. The classrooms were transformed with modern interactive teaching walls and old concertina doors were replaced to create independent learning spaces. Collaborating with teaching staff, we tailored joinery and storage solutions to their specific needs. For the verandah, we developed an innovative solution, applying epoxy floor finishes and installing custom-designed perforated metal screening to make the space weatherproof while maintaining natural light.
Delivered on time and on budget, Brookfield State School’s D Block now features state-of-the-art classrooms and a functional, semi-enclosed verandah. The new outdoor space provides an all-weather environment for outdoor learning, while the modernised classrooms and computer lab support diverse teaching methods. Delivered on time and within budget, this project has provided Brookfield with a vibrant and versatile learning hub that will inspire both students and staff for years to come.
