Redbank Plains State School sought to refurbish F Block’s four general learning areas to improve functionality and flexibility. The brief included installing kitchen units in two classrooms, ensuring ample storage, whiteboards, side benches and creating spaces adaptable for various teaching methods. The school environment remained fully operational during construction, demanding careful planning to minimise disruptions.
We partnered with Capworks Management to deliver the project under a Design and Construct (D&C) contract. Our team managed the full strip-out of the learning areas, carefully handling asbestos removal during school holidays and weekends to minimise disruption. Drawing from our experience at Merrimac State School, we applied structural steel for internal operable walls, enhancing acoustic separation without compromising space functionality. The project also included upgrading the ground drainage, installing new teacher’s walls and adding kitchen units to two classrooms. We worked closely with the school’s representatives to ensure that the design met their specific needs and optimised the functionality of the spaces.
F Block’s refurbishment – delivered on time and on budget – now provides Redbank Plains State School with four versatile, light-filled learning areas that foster dynamic teaching and learning experiences. The addition of moveable walls and improved acoustics enhances the flexibility of each space, while the new kitchen units and updated storage solutions ensure practical functionality for daily use. This successful project outcome highlights the strength of our collaborative approach and commitment to delivering high-quality, functional spaces in a live school environment.
