The Brief

The school sought to refurbish an uninspiring undercroft into a tuckshop that would set the benchmark for all private schools.

It was imperative that the school remained fully operational for the duration of the project, with guaranteed safety for students.

With unknowns in the existing space, the school recognised that buildability input during the design phase would help eliminate budget and program concerns.

Our contribution

We were engaged in the beginning stages of the project under an ECI to Design and Construct (D&C) contract. In the pre-construction phase, our team completed exploratory works to investigate the existing structure. This efficiently informed the wider project team so the design and pricing could be finalised.

Successfully moving the D&C stage, we collaborated with all stakeholders to provide the design of the integrated services. Through this stage, we proved to be an asset to the wider project team – going above and beyond to keep communication lines open and collaboration strong. Our team’s adaptability helped alleviate stress when the inevitable budgetary and design changes were made. Once construction got underway, our team managed site safety near busy drop-off and pick-up zones. We navigated class and exam schedules, ensuring minimal learning disruptions and complete safety for students.

The remarkable project outcome

Our team successfully delivered the school’s brief, building a world-class cafeteria on time and within budget. We successfully prioritised business continuity, ensuring everyone – from staff, students and the wider project team – experienced a stress-free project journey with a remarkable project outcome. Aidan’s Place truly sets the benchmark for tuckshop excellence for private schools. This positive experience has built a lasting relationship with the Society of the Sacred Advent Schools, opening the way for future project partnerships.
